Myra
Burg has been designing and producing site-specific works of art since
1976. Her works range in size from tabletop to airplane hangar for
freestanding, wall mounted or aerial constructions. Soft luxurious
fiber in a symphony of color is introduced to the crispness of the
metals, for solutions elegant in design, and elegant in the function
of the support system. In the sculptural constructions, the structure
of the art is expressed and integral with the design. Ms. Burg provides
innovative solutions for unusual site parameters.
Although a licensed
and practicing architect since 1984, Ms. Burg has shifted her practice
to the design and installation of site-specific artworks, typically
of unusual dimension for unusual spaces. She has placed several
hundred installations for private collections and public spaces
in Japan, throughout the United States, the Cayman Islands, Puerto
Rico, and Australia. After returning to art in 1994 from a 5-year
hiatus, her work has gained momentum, and is now considered to be
of investment quality. She is also engaging in collaborative work
with oil painter Liz Cummings. See myraburg.com for more information.
